Jotunheim Roleplay

"Strong Roleplay is the essence of action in online Gor. It pulls together all the various elements that recreate Gor - The book knowledge, the needs of Goreans etc. It injects the dramatic content into Gor and so makes it so different from many other realms."

Roleplay: definition as far as it applies to Gor and Jotunheim Landfall.

The recreation by acting, within Y/your character, the life of the Torvalslanders a People of the North of Gor. The roleplay should take into account everyday happenings and some unusual events, compatible with life in the Fiords and Farms of Torvalsland.

For such roleplay to be true in its concept it must include ALL types of incident that could have occured on the Seas and Lands of Torvalsland. Roleplay can be happy, sad, joyful, boring and sometimes downright heartbreaking. All is valid and should be carried out. In other words all types of content are valid providing they have sound logical basis founded on likely happenings in the context of this Northern land.

Some of the more harrowing roleplay action will undoubtedly disturb some of the M/members. Such action should be roleplayed when Jotunheim has few in it. Preferably only those engaged in the roleplay and understanding what it is about. If possible, notification of such a roleplay (without details) can be posted here as a warning.
Should Any Member enter whilst such a roleplay is going on, which T/they find disturbing, message the Senior Member there or a F/friend there and depart, asking them to notify you by Q when the roleplay has ended. I do not think this will occur often, because much that does already take place is in the nature of hard and distressful action, but it is an accepted part of Gor and is in context. Examples: the killing of a slave, killing of an animal (r/t animal lovers), etc. etc.

Emphasise must be placed on the fact that roleplay is not simply recreating or acting out 'happy' scenes and events. Roleplay on the scale of Gor demands that all areas of Gorean life be portrayed. Taking film and stage as an example, look at the tragedies of Shakespeare and films such as Love Story. Both ... heart rending and emotional, but to the Actor/Roleplayer, demanding and so satisfying. This justifies firstly the validity within a Gorean theme of recreating possible events in ALL areas of gorean life, and the validity in the areas of emotional and interesting interaction within the Membership of Jotunheim.
Note: All roleplay that could be traumatic to A/any Members should be restricted to a few hours at most, not carried on for days for that would preclude the enjoyment of Jotunheim by some members.
This should not be so.
