UTAR System - Rules and Scoring
Fights and Spars
Judges
, You are to
look for proper acknowledgement of wounds, the flow of actions,
feasibility and strength of strikes and the skill displayed between the
two fighters, then decide which fighter was the better.
NOTE: Because the scoring system is Attack orientated - acknowledgement
of wounds, although helpful in the descriptive postings and so encouraged, is taken care of to some extent, in the
scoring of Parry/Deflect defensive actions.
Forced Action Posts:
So called Forced Action posts are encouraged with this system as it helps the Judges know of Your INTENT, its
feasibility and the realistic chances of the strike accomplishing such.
Each fighter starts off with a 'bank' of 6 points (6 post spar), 8 points (8 post spar)
or 12 points (12 post spar)
Judges keep a running total of the bank of points for each fighter
If the scores of two judges show that a fighter has emptied His 'bank' of
points and so has a
zero or less balance, then the fight shall be stopped and His opponent declared
the winner.

SCORING OF ATTACKS AND DEFENCE ACTION
(all numbers represent points eg. +5 or -5 etc.) All Realistic and Valid, ATTACK Action scores are DEDUCTED from the Defenders Scorecard. All Realistic and Valid, DEFENCE Action scores are ADDED to the Defenders Scorecard. Time Penalties are DEDUCTED from the Late Posters Scorecard. Note: UNREALISTIC Attack or Defence actions shall be ignored by the Judges for the purposes of scoring points ie: They neither score nor lose points. If a fighter defending, thinks that any attack action is unrealistic then He may chose to ignore it, so saving the use of an action from Him to parry or block it. He may then use that saved action for other purposes, in effect gaining an action 'use' - BUT - should realise that the Judges may not be thinking in the same way. Blocking and Avoiding Actions - Judges look carefully at Blocking or Avoiding Defence actions to determine whether or not they are realistic and feasible... taking into account the position of the defender, and the following action of the defender.
If too many actions are posted the final action will be ignored for scoring purposes, and may be ignored by the opponent (if He recognises it) for defence purposes.
